Since 1892, the US Mint has issued commemorative coins to mark special occasions or to celebrate great moments in history. They stopped making gold coins in 1933 and didn’t resume full production until 1986 with the American Eagle coins. There was a commemorative coin produced in 1984, however, to celebrate the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The US Mint produces these coins from four locations: San Francisco, Denver Mint, West Point Mint, and Philadelphia.
These coins will be either bullion quality or proof quality versions. The coins will have one of several different designs from 1986 to 2011. These designs, like all commemorative coins, celebrate moments in history or people of note. Some of the designs from the past have included the Statue of Liberty, past presidents, and the Star Spangled Banner. Generals and famous authors have also been the subject of some of these coins. The obverse and reverse coin designs you will get will depend on inventory.
Be sure to grab a piece of history by purchasing one of these $5 US Mint Coins. This is your opportunity to get a little gold into your portfolio or collection and commemorate a great moment in our rich heritage. Act now.

Great US coin at low premium. I received a 1988 Olympic proof in capsule. Capsuled coins fit great in half dollar tubes.

I ordered 4 of these and received 3 different designs. I feel these are a great value and the variety of designs makes stacking gold more interesting for me.
