Gullinbursti, Split Across Two Sides
In Norse legend Gullinbursti was forged by dwarves for the god Freyr, a boar that could outrun any horse across sky or sea, its bristles glowing to light the way. The obverse renders it mid-charge, mane and muscle cut in deep relief against a matte field. The design wraps around the edge: the reverse carries the boar’s hindquarters below Germania Mint’s double-headed eagle, with the year and the 5 Mark legend.
The “5 Mark” Is Not Money
Say it plainly: the 5 Mark denomination on the reverse is decorative. Germania is not a country, and this round is not legal tender anywhere. Germania Mint is a private mint in Poland, and the mark face value is part of the theme, not a spendable amount. Treat this as a privately struck round with an art denomination, not as a coin.
What Pushes It Above Melt
One ounce of silver is worth a fraction of the price here. The rest is the relief work, the Germania Mint name, the small mintage, and the certificate that comes with it.
