The 2023 1/10 oz Australian Platinum Kookaburra coin looks stunning as only platinum can’t deliver. The .9995 fine platinum looks amazing. The fact that it is platinum is special in itself as this is only the third year the Perth Mint has issued a Kookaburra coin in platinum. Also, they have only made 15,000 coins available worldwide. When they are gone there won’t be anymore.
Key features:
- Only 15,000 available worldwide
- Made of 1/10 oz .9995 fine platinum
- Face value is $15 dollars backed by the Australian government
- Obverse of coin has the image of Queen Elizabeth II
- Reverse side of coin has picture of two Kookaburra birds on branches
- Coin arrives in original Perth Mint capsule
Starting in 1990 the Australian Kookaburra coin has been a hit. First released in silver only, they later added gold to the series and the coin has continued to be a highly sought-after coin. Last year, the Perth Mint added platinum to the assortment of metals in the series. These platinum coins have sold very quickly so these are soon to be gone as well.
The obverse of the coin has the very popular Queen Elizabeth design created by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint in 2015. This image is a very detailed picture of the queen as she was at age 89. She is seated looking to the right and one can even see the crow’s feet around her eyes. She is wearing the diadem crown and royal jewels. Above her head is ‘QUEEN ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA’. At the bottom of the coin is ‘15 DOLLARS’.
One reverse of the coin is a picture of two Australian Kookaburra birds on separate branches. This bird has become an icon of Australia like the kangaroo and the koala. The Kookaburra’s distinctive call has been featured in many movies that have a jungle in them. A kookaburra’s call sounds like a human laughing maniacally. Above the birds is ‘AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA’. Below is ‘2023 1/10 oz 9995 PLATINUM’.
With a limited mintage of only 15000 and a design that looks super gorgeous in .9995 platinum, these coins won’t last long. Get yours today.

Great coin with amazing detail! It comes inside individual bags with a capsule (to prevent scratches). Packaged very well and got to me in 5 days. For size reference, the coin in the capsule is the size of a dime. The coin itself is a tad smaller. It is the same diameter size as the gold 1/10th ounce version but thinner as expected. Glad to have this addition. Beautiful
