The Awakening Series by the Sunshine Mint isn’t shy about making statements about corruption and shadow puppetry that goes on in government. This round seems to set its sights on Quantitative Easing (QE) , the controversial practice of pouring more currency into the economy to stimulate the economy, as we see QE written right in the middle of the obverse side. Above QE is the powerful image of a snake eating itself, perhaps demonstrating how damaging this practice is to the economy. This snake is in the shape of an infinity shape, maybe an indicator that this practice could go on and on forever but not really make any real progress. Above the snake is written ‘Infinity’. Below this image is ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’, which has used QE in the past.

The reverse side is the same on all the rounds in the Awakening series. The imagery sets the tone for the whole series with ‘THE AWAKENING’ written as an enlarged version of the all-seeing eye on a pyramid as seen on US currency. Under the eye is ‘MDCCLXXVI’ the Roman numeral for 1776. Draped on a ribbon on the pyramid is ‘ANNUIT COEPTIS’ which is Latin for ‘God has favored our undertakings’. This motto appears with the all-seeing eye and pyramid on some US currency. The message here seems to suggest this country was blessed by God and he is watching over. Written upside down is perhaps the irony here ‘YOU CAN’T WAKE A PERSON WHO IS PRETENDING TO BE ASLEEP’. Maybe the people don’t see what is going on in their government because they don’t want to see it. On the pyramid in small text is ‘.9999 SILVER 2 TROY OZ 2022’.
