The White Greyhound of Richmond has appeared on badges adorning royal figures at various points in British royalty history. It appeared again at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in the form of one of several statues that were crafted for the occasion. Jody Clark brought it back for the 2022 design for the Royal Mint’s Queen’s Beast Series. 

 

Clark’s design appears on the reverse side of this coin and depicts the White Greyhound of Richmond standing on its hindlegs as it drapes his forepaws over Royal Arms of the House of Tudor. The background has a kind of cross-hatch design. Arched above the image is ‘White Greyhound of Richmond’ ‘1 oz Fine Platinum 999.5’ ‘2022’. Jody Clark’s initials, JC, appear at the bottom of the coin. 

 

The obverse of the coin has Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II also designed by Jody Clark. This design presents the queen wearing the diadem crown and her royal jewelry. In the background is a guilloche design element. Around the queen’s portrait are ‘100 pounds’ ‘Elizabeth II’ ‘D.G. REG. F.D.” which are initials for the Latin phrases, ‘Dei Gratia Regina’ and ‘Fidei defensor’ which together translates to “By the grace of God, queen. Defender of the faith.” Below the queen’s image is J.C. for Jody Clark.
