The obverse image on the coin is an ultra high relief image of two firefighters in full gear and breathing tanks battling a blaze with the twin towers in the background. The background is shiny with the firefighters being in a matte finish. Below the firefighters is written in big bold letters, “ ONLY THE BRAVE ARE FREE’. Below this scene is the image of Queen Elizabeth II as designed by Ian Rank-Broadly. Around the queen is ‘ELIZABETH II 250 DOLLARS COOK ISLANDS 2021. 

 

The reverse image has a super cool image of a New York Fireman that looks like it is popping out of the coin. The image is so ultra high relief you can make out details like the fireman’s hair around his face, the buckles of his helmet and the flashlight attached to his helmet. On the fireman’s helmet is ‘Firefighter 343 NYFD’. The number 343 is in honor of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the twin towers on 9/11.
