The reverse side of the coin has Walter Ott’s sugar maple leaf. This leaf design is very detailed. The maple leaf is an icon for Canada as it is used all over Canada. It is used in their flag, used by their military, and is included in their legal tender. The maple tree has been a big part of Canada’s history as it was used by the aboriginals as a source for food. The European settlers found it to be a great source for sugar.  Above the leaf is written ‘Canada’. To the right and left of the leaf is ‘9999’ referring to the purity of the gold, .9999. At the bottom of the coin is ‘Fine Gold’ and ‘1 gm OR Pur’.

The Canadian Royal Mint was founded in 1908 and has proven to be one of the most trusted and reliable mints in the world. They have consistently produced beautiful detailed gold bullion coins and their Canadian Maple leaf coins are testimony of the incredible work that they do.
