For fans of Canada and its rich and exciting history, it’s hard to ignore the importance of the sugar maple leaf. For over a century, the symbol has been considered one of the official icons of the country of Canada and its people.

Each year, the Royal Canadian Mint produces several different weight variants of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin. The series has been consistently produced annually since 1979, making it one of the oldest coin series available globally.

Always available in brilliant uncirculated (BU) condition, the 2021 1 Oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is shipped by Hero Bullion with great care in order to avoid blemishes, scuffs, or other imperfections in the moving process.

The obverse side of the coin depicts a Canadian artist’s take on Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse side emphasizes the classic maple leaf of Canada, as well as the purity and weight of the piece.

Key Features:

  • .9999 pure gold.
  • Face value: $50 CAD.
  • Obverse depiction: A Canadian artist’s portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • Reverse depiction: The classic sugar maple leaf of the Canadian flag.

Though the Canadian Maple Leaf Coin series comes in silver, platinum, and gold variants, the gold version holds a special place in the hearts of many collectors.

The icon on the reverse side of the coin looks particularly intricate and detailed when struck on the pure gold of this edition. The gold variant of the Canadian Maple Leaf Coin is also the oldest-running version of the coin design, having been produced once annually since 1979.

The reverse side of the coin is likely the most iconic image to most collectors. The maple leaf of Canada has long been recognizable as a classic symbol for the country, as well as its people. The maple industry has always been important to Canada and its peoples; aboriginal groups native to the country used the sap of maple trees as one of their most essential sources of food. Over time, the iconography of the maple leaf became an essential component of Canadian identity.

The opposite side of the coin features a similarly familiar symbol: Queen Elizabeth II herself. She is shown here without a crown in a drawing originally drafted by a Canadian artist. The stunning design on the obverse of the coin revels in simplicity, the side profile of the Queen and her pearls emphasizing her regality and class. Below Elizabeth II, the value of the coin ($50 CAD) and the year is inscribed.

Struck with pure .9999 gold, the 2021 1 Oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is a highly anticipated continuation of the oldest variation of the Canadian Maple Leaf Coin. Its iconic imagery emphasizes the unique cultural and historical context of Canada, while the coin itself remains backed by the official government of Canada itself.

Collectors of coins are sure to appreciate the intricate details of the coin, as well as its secure value backing and brilliant symbols on both the obverse and reverse side.
