It wasn’t until 2008 that the Austrian Mint first introduced the Austrian Silver Philharmonic Coin, which quickly became a favorite among collectors everywhere. This version of the coin has been released continuously since then, and the 2021 1 oz Austria Silver Philharmonic is already drawing interest among bullion fans who appreciate Austria’s unique musical culture.

Austria has been home to some of the most famous composers in the history of music. Mozart is a household name, and his work is still enjoyed today by millions. But Austria is also home to the likes of Strauss, Shoenberg, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Mahler, and more. The country has never shaken its reputation as a breeding ground for incredibly gifted composers.

The obverse of the 2021 1 oz Austria Silver Philharmonic coin pays homage to this rich musical history, depicting the Great Organ, centerpiece of Austria’s Golden Hall. Countless famous composers have conducted in this hall, and the Great Organ is an international symbol for music appreciation.

Although certainly more general, the reverse side is no less symbolic of Austria’s impact on the global music scene. Five cellos sit in the foreground of this side, while a harp, a bassoon, and a classic Vienna horn back them up. Put together, this depiction is a fascinating piece of art. The simple details on these instruments allow their designs to stand alone, and they look great against the fine silver the piece is struck with.

Even for people who aren’t big fans of music, it’s hard to deny the impact that musical art has had on our global culture. Austria has been an indispensable part of the creation of music culture, with countless famous composers coming from this relatively small European nation. Backed by the Austrian Mint, the 2021 1 Oz Austria Silver Philharmonic Coin combines pure silver with unique cultural imagery, allowing collectors to commemorate Austria’s rich musical history while expanding their stock of .999 pure silver.

Ordered 20 and got the coins in a sealed tube from the Austrian mint. Doesn’t get more BU than that. Counted 20 in the tube, but conflicted on opening it since it is sealed. Would buy again.
