The cultural significance of Austria is often underrepresented in the global community. While we all know the importance of landmarks like the United States’ Statue of Liberty of the Taj Mahal of India, Austria has nevertheless contributed greatly to the world’s cultural identity and shared history. Austria is particularly proud of its musical traditions and heritage.

The 2021 ½ Oz Austria Gold Philharmonic Coin commemorates the most memorable of Austria’s musical landmarks, Vienna’s Philharmonic Orchestra.  Public performances in Austria are integral to the musical history of the country. Several famous composers got their start in Austria, where the Philharmonic Orchestra provided them an incredible venue to debut their compositions.

The Austria Gold Philharmonic Coin series has long celebrated this important aspect of Austrian identity. This particular version of the coin has been minted annually for twenty-seven years. Today, Hero Bullion brings you the 28th edition of the Austria Gold Philharmonic Coin in brilliant uncirculated condition.

Key Features:

  • ½ Oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • Face value: 50 Euros.
  • Obverse Depiction: World famous Austrian Great Pipe Organ.
  • Reverse Depiction: Eight recognizable musical instruments.

The first annual release of the Austria Gold Philharmonic Coin premiered in 1989, and it was met with universal acclaim by collectors all over the world. Part of the appeal of the piece undoubtedly comes from its unique reverse-side depiction. The eight instruments on this side are engraved with a unique level of detail. Onlookers can clearly identify four violins flanking a large cello, which occupies the foreground of the design. In the background, a harp, Vienna horn, and bassoon are shown, all instruments which are frequently used in the Austrian Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Vienna Great Pipe Organ is a massive source of pride for the Austrian people, especially those with a vested interest in the country’s rich musical history. It is housed inside the Musikverein, the famous concert hall in Vienna often referred to as the “Golden Concert Hall.” The venue often serves as the home of the Vienna orchestra, and its likeness is often closely associated with the prolific musical group.

Like the reverse side, this obverse-side art is drawn in extremely intricate detail. Set against the pure gold with which the coin is struck, the Great Pipe Organ really stands out in a visual way. The name of the republic is also listed on this side, as well as inscriptions of the coin’s weight, purity, year, and face value of 50 Euros.

The 28th annual release of this series, the 2021 ½ Oz Austria Gold Philharmonic Coin allows collectors the opportunity to commemorate a unique cultural landmark with massive implications for the global music culture and community. When onlookers combine the reverse and obverse depictions, they are given an intimate look at the vibrant history of both the Philharmonic Orchestra and the city that hosts it.

Collectors with an interest in music shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to celebrate one of the world’s most revered cultural landmarks with the 2021 ½ Oz Austria Gold Philharmonic Coin.
