The design of the American Gold Eagle Coins is just one of several reasons that they continue to enjoy popularity with collectors each year that they’re released. The 1/10 Oz model of this coin is particularly exciting for some investors who prefer to deal in smaller amounts of coins. These smaller weights can be great for providing liquidity; selling off multiple 1/10 Oz coins is often easier than liquidating a larger coin from a collection.

With the image of the classic depiction of Lady Liberty on one side and a family of majestic bald eagles on the other, the American Gold Eagle coin is highly symbolically representative of everything there is to love about America. This series has been continually updated with new annual coins for 34 years. Now in its 35th year, the coins might be receiving a brand new design. This could make the 2021 1/10 Oz American Gold Eagle Coin even more valuable, as it includes a reverse-side design that will soon be unavailable in new condition.

Key Features:

  • .9167 pure gold.
  • Backed by the United States government (face value of $5 USD).
  • Obverse depiction: Lady Liberty stands proudly.
  • Reverse depiction: a bald eagle family rests at their nest.

The 1/10 version is the smallest sub-ounce variation of the American Gold Eagle Coin available to collectors. As we explained above, the primary value of this denomination is that it allows collectors to easily liquidate their stock without sacrificing bigger pieces of bullion. Because of this, sales for the 1/10 Ounce American Gold Eagle Coin often outpace even the larger models, including the one ounce version.

The new 2021 designs won’t be officially released until about halfway into 2021. This means that this coin will likely be the last of the existing images available as BU fresh out of the mint. The reverse side of the American Eagle Coin is the one to be replaced. Currently, the design features a family of bald eagles; the mother watches over the children while the father swoops in from above. This side of the coin also includes inscriptions of “The United States of America,” “In God We Trust,” and E Pluribus Unum.” The weight and face value of the coin are also depicted.

On the other side of the coin, however, it is likely that Lady Liberty will remain relatively the same. She carries both an olive branch and a torch, and she stands on a hill above a few notable American political monuments. The year of minting, as well as “Liberty,” also make their way onto this side.

As the US Mint phases out this classic design, the 2021 1/10 Oz American Gold Eagle coin is likely to be a valuable collector’s item for years to come. The retiring design of the family of eagles has become a coveted symbol for American strength and freedom, and Lady Liberty is as beautiful and iconic as ever on the obverse side of the coin. Capture a slice of American and bullion history all at once with the 2021 1/10 Oz American Gold Eagle Coin from Hero Bullion.
