The 2020 South Korean 1 oz Silver Tiger Medal is a beautifully designed medal that captures the spirit of South Korean. Starting in 2018, each medal depicts the sleek predator. The previous two designs had images of adult tigers but this one features a beautiful tiger cub.

The Silver Tiger Series has been very popular for Komsco. They launched the South Korean Tiger bullion series in 2016 with gold medals and the response was so great they added silver in 2018. Every year they release a new image of a tiger and they sell very quickly. This year’s medal has a cute tiger cub with the Gyeongbokgung Palace and Namsan Tower in the background on the obverse. These medals look great in 1 Troy oz of .999 fine silver. Also on this side is ‘1 oz’ and ‘KOREAN TIGER 2020’ with a paw print above the text. The Namsan tower has ‘SEOUL’ written on it.

The reverse side of the medal features the same design each year, an artistic rendition of the Korean peninsula. The peninsula is made up of the letters of the Korean alphabet. At the top is ‘REPUBLIC OF KOREA’. On the bottom is ‘FINE SILVER 999’. There is a faint 999 on this side as an anti-counterfeiting measure. Around the edge and in the background are tiger stripes.
