The 2020 British 2 oz Silver Queen’s Beasts White Lion coin is made of 2 oz. of .9999 silver and is the 8th coin in the Queen’s Beasts series. The Royal Mint has done a magnificent job depicting the White Lion of Mortimer, a symbol important to Edward IV. On the obverse of the coin, is the beautiful Jody Clark artwork depicting Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

  • 2 oz .9999 fine silver in BU condition
  • Precious Metals IRA eligible
  • Face value of 2 British Pounds backed by the British Government
  • 8th  release in a 10 coin series, Queen’s Beasts

  • Obverse: Jody Clark’s classic effigy of Queen Elizabeth II
  • Reverse: White Lion of Mortimer

The 2020 Queen’s Beasts White Lion design is a departure from the way the White Lion of Mortimer is usually depicted. The lion is often shown with its tail between its legs and acting kind of submissive. Jody Clark’s version of the White Lion shows a more dignified look. On the lion’s shield is a sun which is believed to be inspired by a time that the sun came out before combat and Edward IV convinced his men that it was a sign from God to inspire them. The obverse features the now classic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in such great detail by artist Jody Clark.

The Queen’s Beasts Collection was inspired by ten 6 ft. statues that were created for Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. Each of the beasts depicts creatures that appear at various times as symbols of the British monarchy. The ten-coin collection started in 2016 and includes coins featuring: The Lion of England (2016, 2017), The Red Dragon of Wales (2017, 2018), The Griffin of Edward III (2017,2018), The Black Bull of Clarence (2018, 2019), The Unicorn (2018, 2019), The Yale of Beaufort (2019, 2020), The Falcon of the Plantagenets (2019, 2020), The White Horse of Hanover (2020, 2021), The White Lion of Mortimer (2020, 2021), The White Greyhound of Richmond (2021, 2022). The Royal Mint also released a collector’s coin with all ten beasts on it in 2021.

The Royal Mint has been a trusted source of coins for over 1100 years. Collectors love that the mint only uses high-quality precious metals to craft their coins. They also love that the mint commissions artwork of superior quality that they expertly mint into beautiful coins. Having the backing of the British government is what helps collectors sleep at night when they purchase coins made by the Royal Mint.
