History of the US Mint Silver Eagle Coins
The United States Mint has a history of excellence, quality and reliability that has continued since its initiation. Founded in the late 18th century, shortly after the achievement of American independence, the Philadelphia branch (or as it was first called “Ye Olde Mint”) was originally a division of the State Department. However, it was granted autonomy in 1799. Today, the Mint boasts four facilities across the country: Philadelphia (1792), San Francisco (1854), Denver (1863) and most recently West Point (1988). The West Point branch was originally built to serve as a storage unit. However, like it’s counterparts, it now strikes American Eagles in gold, silver and platinum. While the Mint is primarily known for their production of legal coinage, they also create Congressional and commemorative medals and properly distribute quantities of gold and silver across the nation. Produced by the United States Mint since 1986, the American Eagle program continues to be one of the most successful and illustrious in the world. Over 531 Silver Eagles have been produced since the series’ inception nearly four decades ago.
Design of the 2020 American Silver Eagle
The design of the 2020 American Silver Eagle is unmistakable and commonly recognized around the world. The obverse features Lady Liberty, facing to the left with her arm outstretched. Her other hand holds a bundle of laurel and oak, a symbol representing American pride. She is walking toward an impending sunrise, with stars and stripes adorning her flowing robes. This patriotic design is based on Alfred A. Weinman’s popular artwork used on the Walking Liberty half dollar, introduced in 1916. “Liberty”, “In God We Trust” and the year “2020” are additionally engraved. The reverse image was designed by John M. Mercanti, an American sculptor who was the Chief Engraver at the U.S. Mint until his retirement in 2010. On the back, you will see a shielded eagle holding an olive branch in one talon with arrows clutched in the other. In his beak he holds a banner displaying the familiar American motto, “E Pluribus Unum” or “Out of Many, One”. The eagle has been a national symbol of pride, patriotism and prestige for centuries. Thirteen stars are seen overhead, representing the 13 original colonies. “United States of America”, “1 oz. Fine Silver” and “One Dollar” encircle the circumference. The diameter is 1.598 inches with reeded edging.

As a new company I was unsure what to expect. However, with one of the lowest prices online I can find for 2020 Eagles, fast payment processing and shipping, I am liking this company a lot. Eagles were exactly as described, in BU condition.
