The HMS Bounty is the site of the most famous mutiny in maritime history. Here the crew, led by Fletcher Christian, mutinied against their captain, Captain William Bligh. This story was the inspiration for a motion picture that featured memorable performances by Marlon Brando and Richard Harris. Many are drawn to the story that points out the foibles of man, the intricacies of governing a group of men at sea, and the fragility of a captain’s command. After the mutiny, Captain William Bligh found the mutineers and took them into custody.
