Some find the 80% Silver Canadian Dollars an attractive alternative to the U.S. Silver Dollar. These coins mark a time in Canadian history where the design of their silver dollar diverged from the functional look the coins had up until 1935. These coins had a portrait of King George V in his Imperial State Crown and wearing his special coronation robe. While this was a little ostentatious for a portrait of a sovereign leader on a coin, the reverse image was an art piece that told a story. The design shows a Native Canadian and a fur trader known to the people as a voyageur traveling in a canoe. Above them are the Northern Lights. In the background are evergreen trees. This design was rather ornate for Canada’s coins and ushered in the idea of making beautiful nature themed coins of other denominations. The “voyageur” design was used on the silver dollar until 1986.
The obverse of the coin changed several times during 1935-1967. It changed in 1937 when King George VI became king. It changed again in 1953 when Queen Elizabeth II became queen. Since she has been queen the design of the queen has been updated as she matured over the years.
Now is the time to get your hands on one of these 80% Canadian Silver Dollars that dates between 1935-1967. These coins have a beautiful design and a respectable amount of silver. Get yours today.

This is my first Hero purchase, and I’m very impressed. The role of 20 BU Canadian Silver Dollars came in a stackable tube and excellently packaged in a Priority Mail box. Nice mix of dates with 3 of the 1964 Charlottetown & Quebec Conferences Commemorative issue. I will be purchasing more.

This is my second time ordering Canadian Silver Dollars from Hero. Once again, they are stunning BU coins and a variety of different dates. I plan to purchase more.

Coins are in great shape, really nice…and I know variety can’t be guaranteed, But 10 all the same ?
You only have 4 reviews, they all received variety…I know Variety can’t be guaranteed, but when you post 4 reviews all insinuating variety, you’re essentially leading the consumer to believe they’ll get variety…10 1964’s…they’re beautiful, but I would’ve liked some older coins…Mark W.

I love hero bullion but I was very disappointed with this purchase. I bought two tubes of 20 for a total of 40 Canadian silver dollars and they were all exactly the same year. I wish I would have had a few other dates at least.

I ordered 20 of these. I know it says variety is not guaranteed, but it would’ve been appreciated. Every coin was dated 1965. The tube they came in had a piece of tape on top with “65” written on it, so I guess there was no chance that I would’ve gotten a different date unless I ordered more than 20. Regardless, most of them are in better condition than expected, so I’m pretty happy. But if I had some variety then I’d be more inclined to purchase more. As it stands, I’ll probably try another dealer next time.
