Key features:

  • Design can vary.
  • Made with .4823 Troy oz of actual gold content.
  • Face value of $10 (USD) fully backed by the US government.
  • Obverse has various designs
  • Reverse side has the US seal with American bald eagle.
  • Coins available are in BU condition or proof specimens.

Since 1892, the US Mint has issued commemorative coins to mark special occasions or to celebrate great moments in history. They stopped making gold coins in 1933 and didn’t resume full production until 1986 with the American Eagle coins. There was a commemorative coin produced in 1984, however, to celebrate the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

The 1984 Los Angeles Olympics coin is one of the most common designs so you may get that one. It features two runners carrying the Olympic torch ahead of the Summer Games hosted in Los Angeles. On this coin is engraved LIBERTY, LOS ANGELES, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 1984. At the bottom of the coin are the Roman numerals for 1984.

The reverse of all the commemorative coins will have the seal of the United States of America, an American Bald Eagle with its wings spread. In the bird’s mouth is a ribbon which has ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’ on it. In the eagle’s right talon is an olive branch and in its left is a bunch of arrows.

The $10 US Mint Commemorative Coin is a sandwich of metals with 22-karat gold being part of that content. The US Mint produces these coins from four locations: San Francisco, Denver Mint, West Point Mint, and Philadelphia.

Be sure to grab a piece of history by purchasing one of these $10 US Mint Coins. This is your opportunity to get a little gold into your portfolio or collection and commemorate a great moment in our rich heritage. Act now.
