On the obverse side of the ½ oz American Gold Eagle coin, we see Liberty as designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907. This design first appeared in 1907 on the $20 Gold Eagle and ran until 1933. This version of Liberty shows her facing the viewer and looks to be walking toward them. She is carrying a torch in her right hand and has an olive branch in the other. At her feet, we see Washington D.C. while the sun is coming up behind her. Surrounding Liberty is 50 stars. Above her head is ‘LIBERTY’. At the bottom of the coin is the year of issue.

The reverse side of the coin has a Miley Busiek’s design featuring what looks like eagles building a nest. One adult eagle is bringing a branch while the other one is sitting in the nest. The image is very detailed and we can see the feathers of the bird very clearly.  Above the eagles’ heads is ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’. To the left of the image is  ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’ which means “From many, one.” To the right of the image is ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’. At the bottom of the coin are ‘1/2 oz FINE GOLD’ and ‘25 DOLLARS’
